During the last few months I've been facilitating a seminar series for the Renaissance Society at CSU, Sacramento (Sac State). The semester is almost over and I'm just now setting up a site to go with the class and a proposed new book of the same title. Look her for more information, as I'm going to try and add something to the site at least twice a week.
The course was twelve weeks long. Upcoming this next Friday -- November 18, will be guest speakers Dawn Dunlap from the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, and Clark Watanabe, of Watanabe Farms. The last session will focus on community -- gardens, cookbooks, and food societies.
Eventually, I'll have copies of all my handouts on this site plus the rough draft of the new book I'm hoping to begin work on soon. The site will be a series of essays, actually, written by me and others, providing a glimpse into our storied food, drink and cooking past.
I posted some artwork on asparagus as a teaser-- as I'll literally develop an almost encyclopedic approach -- from Asparagus to the Zebra Club and everything in between that contributes to our identity as a food hub for the world.
